Something new to Holly! A Class Representative is a parent volunteer who acts as a liaison between the PAC and the parent community (getting information out, answering questions and helping to keep the flow of communication open), as well as assisting the teacher as needed (this will vary from teacher to teacher). They may send out emails weekly to give a reminder of the upcoming week’s activities, both in your class and at the school level. They can also gather class info and prepare a contact sheet (very useful for arranging playdates, sending out birthday invitations or getting help on homework). They may also coordinate class gifts for the teacher and/or help organize class volunteers when needed by the classroom teacher.
From a PAC perspective, Class Parents have been crucial in making sure that each family in their class has signed and returned the “pink” form, our Anti-Spam Legislation and Photo Waiver Forms. Because the PAC is considered a separate entity from the school, by law we are required to seek expressed written consent from anyone we wish to email. PAC emails will consist of information regarding all events and activities being run by the PAC (Pancake Breakfast, Hot Lunch, Book Fair, Treat Day, Movie Nights, Welcome Back BBQ, Spring Fair, Staff Appreciation etc.). These emails will no longer be sent out from the school level by the school secretary.
Class Parents are also going to be assisting us as we organize the games and activities portion of Spring Fair. In order to make our Fair a success, we require many hands to ensure that everyone gets time with their families to enjoy the fun!
